Design Rationale:
The arms bring together many different aspects of the armiger's life and belief. The fox is an animal closely associated with the armiger, both because of their red hair and their personality of being careful, intelligent, and curious. The Phrygian cap present on both the fox and in the crest represent the armiger's study of history, especially American history, and political science. The torch symbolizes their belief and commitment to a free and liberal society, as well as the fiery passion to better their community. The separation between the azure field and argent chief stands in as the separation between their grounded pragmatism and upward-looking idealism.
