Arms: Per fess dancette of five fir trees Argent and Vert, per pale counterchanged, in chief a lion passant guardant gules langued Or.

Motto:By Learning Succeed
Design Rationale:
Of English origins, the Byles family migrated to the Washington Territory in the 1850's. For many years the family was involved in the timber industry, as loggers and surveyors. The "fir tree" line of partition in argent and green, together with the English lion reflect this heritage.
