Design Rationale:
Father John Robert Skeldon’s personal arms are rich with symbolism, reflecting key aspects of his pastoral life:
Purpure Base (Purple): This color is traditionally associated with repentance and penance, particularly during the Advent and Lent liturgical seasons.
Two Chi Rho Symbols: These symbols come from the first two letters (X and P) of the Greek word for Christ. The Chi (X) stands for “Christos” (Christ), and the Rho (P) stands for “Rhema” (word or spokesman). Together, they represent the Old and New Testaments of the Bible.
Seashells: These symbolize the meaning of life. There are five seashells, representing the liturgical number for grace and the first five books of the Bible.
Gules (Red): This color signifies the blood and passion of Christ, as well as God’s love.
Open Book with Alpha and Omega: This symbolizes Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh, who is the Alpha and Omega. It reflects Father Skeldon’s response to God’s calling to the priesthood and his mission to proclaim the Word.
